Services & Sample Curriculum

  1. 1
Working one-on-one is incredibly valuable to studying musicians. Students typically begin their studies in the sixth grade but some students do begin earlier. Students will gain experience with physical skills (movement, holding the sticks, coordination) and mental skills (counting rhythms and reading pitches on printed music). Advanced students will approach more challenging repertoire and will be encouraged to further develop their critical listening and musical interpretation.
    Individual Lessons
  2. 2
Students can also benefit from learning in a group setting. Students often need to prepare similar or identical material for performances and/or auditions. They may also improve their coordination as a section by working on percussion-specific moments in a piece. Increasing section confidence in this way is of course a great help to the larger band or orchestra.
    Master-classes
  3. 3
Coaching groups of performers is an endeavor that Kevin thoroughly enjoys. Chamber music, performed by mixed ensembles or entirely by percussionists, presents tremendous opportunity for instrumentalists to delve deeply into their craft in new and often more active ways.
    Ensemble coaching
  4. 4
Recordings are how most of us experience our favorite music and the development of this technology has been a blessing. However, hearing music performed live is a very powerful and different experience. Hearing professionals of the highest caliber provides inspiring energy and a vital example of sound. Group trips are organized for select concerts featuring major repertoire.
